Living with Pain
My injury occurred on 11/27/93. I've lived with pain since. For the last two years, one month and 27 days, I haven't been able to work.
I've been poked, prodded and made to jump through more insurance hoops than I knew existed.
Chronic pain is ugly, demeaning and absolutely unrelenting. I do not know a day without pain.
I've learned to be more forgiving of others who have pain of any kind. Mine happens to be from permanent nerve damage.
The sciatica. That's the nerve that branches off of the lower back and runs down both legs. I also have a herniated disc at L5.
To anyone struggling with pain, I say, take it one day at a time. It's really all you can do.
